Involved in the conduct of the game from the grass root level to the International level, the cricket association is affiliated to the Board of control for cricket in India and is the governing body of the game in the state.  It also promotes and develops Cricket by conducting various League Tournaments, Tournaments for the age group Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19, Under-22 and Under-25 categories besides organising and conducting National Tournaments.

On 10th April, 2012; the cricket association of Jharkhand felicitated the well known wicket-keeper batsman, Mahendra Singh Dhoni for being the first Test cricketer from the state and his stunning track record in international cricket within a brief span of time. He was presented a silver bat by the former vice president of BCCI, Jamshed J Irani on behalf of the cricket association. The JSCA also conferred honorary lifetime membership and a citation to the striking cricketer. Jharkhand State Cricket Association has also constructed an international stadium in Ranchi for hosting international cricket tournaments.  Besides, for the two IPL matches to be played in Ranchi for the year 2013 (May 12 and 14), the organizers plan to open a few counters for direct sale of tickets apart from the customary online bookings.
