M. Chinnaswamy Stadium Bangalore

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is a prominent cricket venue, located in Bangalore in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is one of the largest cricket stadiums in India.  This beautiful stadium is surrounded by the picturesque Cubbon Park, Cubbon Road and uptown MG Road. Situated in the heart of the city of Bangalore, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium has been a proud host of a great number of domestic and international cricket tournaments. Previously known as the Karnataka State Cricket Association stadium, the ground was later renamed in the name of Mr. M. Chinnaswamy. Mr. M. Chinnaswamy had rendered its services to the KSCA for four decades. He also remained the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India from 1977-1980. The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium boats of a seating capacity of 55,000, and it regularly hosts Test cricket, One Day Internationals and other First-class cricket matches. Besides this, it also provides its platform for the performance of other musical and cultural events also.

Apart from hosting Test cricket and One Day Internationals, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is also the home ground of the Karnataka State Cricket Team and the Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore. This prominent stadium is owned by the Government of Karnataka. The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium Bangalore is one of the most popular International Cricket stadiums in India. The stadium was brought into existence in the year of 1969. There are two stands in this stadium namely Pavilion End and BEML End. The present curator of this field is Narayan Raju. Owned and operated by Karnataka State Cricket Association, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium Bangalore can easily accommodate more than 50000 people during a match. Before being rechristened to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium this ground was known as Karnataka State Cricket Association.

2011 World Cup at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium Bangalore

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium Bangalore is an important cricket ground of India for domestic as well as International cricket matches. The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium Bangalore has been a proud host of a large number of matches in 1987 and 1996 Cricket World Cup. In the year of 1987, one group match was hosted in this stadium while in the year of 1996 five nail-biting World Cup Matches were played on this ground. Four matches were played on M. Chinnaswamy Stadium Bangalore during the last 2011 Cricket World Cup. The match details are given below:
